Hey, I'm Shan Thomas

capturing life's natural, candid moments

I’m a Shropshire-based photographer specialising in natural maternity, newborn and family photography.
I’m a Mam to two beautiful girls, wife to Mat, and we have a blue merle collie called Bear who keeps us all on our toes.
I love capturing genuine connections, real moments, and the laughter, cuddles, and tiny details that make your family unique.

My journey into photography
Photography has always been a passion of mine, but I first explored it during University studying Forensic Investigation. Crime scene photography module taught me to observe details, work carefully with light and composition, and capture moments with intention.
Since then, I’ve developed my own style, focusing on relaxed, natural family photography that captures genuine emotion and connection.
My approach
I’m naturally calm and observant, which helps families feel comfortable in front of the camera. I gently guide you with simple prompts rather than strict poses, so you can interact naturally while I capture real connections.
My goal is for sessions to feel relaxed, enjoyable, and fun. Whether we’re photographing your newborn at home, your maternity bump, or your family outdoors.
What sessions feel like
My sessions are child-led and paced to suit your family. I allow plenty of time for cuddles, feeding, and breaks when needed.
There’s no pressure for perfection. Some of the most beautiful images come from quiet, natural moments in between. My aim is to capture your family as you are, leaving you with memories you’ll treasure forever.
a little more about me
Outside of photography, you’ll usually find me spending time with my girls, walking Bear, or enjoying everyday family life. Being a Mam has made me appreciate how quickly these early years pass, which is why I feel so passionate about capturing these moments for other families.
My quiet and observant nature helps me blend into sessions, allowing genuine moments to unfold while I gently guide families to create natural interactions. Photography isn’t just a job for me, it’s a way to preserve memories that last a lifetime.
